  About MKCTC

Our club, usually known as Milton Keynes Cyclists' Touring Club (MKCTC), is a branch of Cycling UK.   Cycling UK was formerly known as the Cyclists' Touring Club, founded as far back as 1878.   Our branch was founded in 1977.  Read more about us below.
We ride on Sundays, usually having a cafe stop in the morning or afternoon, and stopping for a snack at a pub or cafe at lunchtime; we usually return home around 4-5 pm.   It is possible to simply do a half-day ride if you can't spare a whole day.   The schedule of upcoming Sunday rides can be seen here.   Occasionally, these Sunday rides are ‘car assisted’, which allows members to experience new areas.

We join members of other clubs for a Wednesday run.   These start 9.30 every Wednesday at Cofferidge Close, High Street, Stony Stratford.

At present most of our rides are in the 30-80 mile range, within the area covered by the map on the right.   In the winter, rides are shorter so that we can return before dark.

The Club also participates in the Easy Riders - Discover Milton Keynes by bicycle programme promoted by Milton Keynes Parks Trust in partnership with local cycling organisations. This programme runs from Spring to Autumn and details are contained in the Parks Trust Events booklet produced annually. Details of the MKCTC led runs are shown here; these rides are ideal for those who wish to see our local attractions at a gentle pace, whilst at the same time building up fitness for longer rides.

What else do you need to know about rides?   If you look under the ABOUT RIDES menu item on the left, you will see information for new riders, and information and maps of our ride start points and our lunch/cafe break stops.

New Riders - if you are interested in riding with us or joining one of our social evenings, contact Pippa or Mike for a chat.   We would be pleased to hear from you.

Every 2 weeks we have 'pub' nights or curry nights, where members meet up for a chat.   You can find details here.
The Club is part of the Right to Ride Network - the CTC volunteer campaign network - working for all cyclists at the local level.   The local representatives for Milton Keynes, North Buckinghamshire and South Northamptonshire are Phil Ashbourn and Ritchie Dixon.   Please contact Phil or Ritchie if you have specific problems or if you wish to help in this work.
The Milton Keynes South Midlands expansion is bringing huge changes for local cyclists and it is important for the future of cycling in this area that we campaign for change that is for the better.   We are represented in the MK Cycling Forum, which seeks to encourage more cycling in the area, working closely with MK Council to improve facilities and encourage all forms of cycling.
Members regularly tour in the United Kingdom and abroad, including CTC and other rallies.   These include:
